Walking through Altamura means crossing millennia of history. Discover the city of Neanderthal Man, of the cloisters and of the Frederician Cathedral with a guided tour of the old town, to be completed with an authentic gastronomic experience dedicated to the flavours of the Murgia.

The route of the historical and cultural visit
- Meeting of participants at Porta Matera
- Visit to Palazzo Baldassarre and discovery of the Altamura Man through the multimedia 3D experience
- Walk among the characteristic cloisters of the old town
- Exploration of the narrow Altamura streets known as “strictule”
- Visit to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
- Observation of the façade and the fourteenth-century portal of the Cathedral
- Visit to the interior of the Frederician Cathedral
- Visit to the Diocesan Museum in the medieval matronei
- End of the walk in Piazza Duomo
- Possibility of modifying or reversing the route according to the needs of the participants
Optional gastronomic experiences
- Caseificio Di Cecca in the old town: cheese-making demonstration lasting about 30 minutes, tasting of cheeses and other typical products – stated price €40
- Caseificio Di Cecca in Via Bari: cheese-making demonstration and cheese tasting – stated price €20
- Forno del Duomo: tasting of focaccia, Pane di Altamura DOP and baked products accompanied by a glass of local wine – €15 per person
- The gastronomic experiences are optional and must be booked in advance
