Walking among cloisters, alleyways and ancient strictule, you will discover the city\u2019s most authentic identity and admire some of its most important monuments.<\/p>\n<p>The visit starts from Porta Matera and continues towards Palazzo Baldassarre, where an engaging 3D video reveals the cave in which \u201cCiccillo\u201d was found, the famous Altamura Man, one of the most complete and important Neanderthal skeletons in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The route continues in the heart of the old town, among the characteristic cloisters and the narrow streets that tell of the coexistence of different peoples, cultures and traditions.<\/p>\n<p>The visit also includes the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, commissioned by Frederick II of Swabia in the thirteenth century, and the Diocesan Museum Matronei Altamura, located in the ancient medieval matronei and home to precious works of sacred art.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the walk you can enrich the experience with a tasting dedicated to the typical products of the area: cheeses and dairy products of the Murgia, Pane di Altamura DOP, Altamura focaccia, baked goods and local wine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Discover Altamura through a guided experience that combines history, art, traditions and local flavours.
