A two-hour experience in the heart of the city, ideal for those who wish to get to know the old town and taste some of the most representative specialities of the Alta Murgia.<\/p>\n<p>Accompanied by a guide, we walk among medieval alleyways, squares, cloisters and ancient shops, letting ourselves be surprised by the atmosphere of the Frederician city and by the imposing Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.<\/p>\n<p>The common thread of the experience is Pane di Altamura DOP, the symbolic product of the city and the first European baked speciality to have obtained the Protected Designation of Origin. Along the route we learn about its history, the ancient processing techniques and the role that the traditional bakeries have played in the daily life of Altamura families.<\/p>\n<p>We enter the atmosphere of a historic bakery and savour a selection of typical products: bread with tomato, extra virgin olive oil, Altamura focaccia, taralli and traditional biscuits.
